We believe in cradle to cradle design, where the process of designing and creating products for use and longevity come hand in hand.

So, we want to open up a discussion.

What do you do when your glasses or sunglasses are broken?

Do you throw them away and get a new pair? Or are they hidden in a deep dark drawer in your house?

People's approach to repairing things changes dramatically depending on the item in question.

Why is that?

If our car breaks down, we take it to be repaired.

If our eyewear breaks, we almost always assume it can’t be repaired.

But what drives that assumption?

The thing is, repairing the things we own is a fundamental part of reducing our impact on the planet.

If we repair more, we can prevent unnecessary waste and by doing so we don't exhaust resources towards making something new.

Millions of perfectly good frames are thrown away each year, often with minor defects that could have easily been repaired because most people don’t know it's possible. It seems much easier and often cheaper to buy a new item.

We don’t know what the exact figure for eyewear is, we’re still digging, but frankly, there isn't much data out there due to this not being spoken about within the eyewear industry.

So, let’s deal with the first point here: we mostly assume we can’t get eyewear repaired.

Glasses can be fragile, there’s no denying that, but they’re not always unrepairable. There’s a lot more that can be done to salvage a pair of well-loved frames than you may realise.

And more often than not we get a ‘I wasn't aware that was possible’ response from our customers when we tell them their frames can be repaired.

The second point: it’s easier and cheaper to replace glasses than repair them.

That may not actually be true. In the long run, it might not be cheaper.

Our frames are designed to last and built to be repaired.

If you buy better, you can wear for longer and you therefore buy less and spend less.

If we want a better future, we need to do better today.

And we can start with repairs.

Repair for the future.

If we can repair it, we will
