We didn’t put all this energy into making our glasses more sustainable, just to ignore the accessories we send along with them.
OUR MATERIALS: CLOTH
WAVE GOODBYE TO MICROFIBRE
OUR MATERIALS
Instead, we sought out innovative alternatives across the board and we’re really excited to tell you about our new cleaning cloths. As surprising as that may sound, please humour us for a moment!
As far as we’re aware, we’re the first eyewear company to make our cleaning cloths out of a microfibre alternative, which we think is pretty amazing. Even more amazing is the material we’re using instead of microfibre.
INTRODUCING CUPRO
We’ve made all our new cloths from a very special fabric called Cupro, which was created to reduce waste in the cotton industry. Cupro is made from cotton linter, which is a soft fibre that covers cotton seeds, which otherwise goes to waste.
NEW USE FOR THE 'USELESS'
CUPRO
In the past, cotton linter has been treated as a useless by-product of industrial cotton production and has been binned along with the seeds because its fibres are too small to spin. Now we can dissolve cotton linter in a viscous solution to create Cupro, which unlike microfibre, is completely biodegradable and does not contain harmful microplastics. Rejoice!
OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE GOOD
Cupro has made our entire offering more sustainable by allowing us to replace the polyester microplastics that have had such an adverse effect on our oceans and our health with a natural 100% biodegradable and recyclable material. Now you can see how it is we've become so excited over cleaning cloths!
