THE PERFECT PAIRING
Our alignment in brand values made for an unquestionably well-matched collaboration. Both brands maintain value in great design, considered production processes, materials and sustainability, while embodying a style that evolves without following trends.

"I HAVE GROWN UP ADMIRING THE WORK OF OLIVER SPENCER. AS A DESIGNER HIMSELF, HE AND HIS TEAM ARE AT THE FOREFRONT OF CONTEMPORARY BRITISH MENSWEAR. OLI IS SOMEONE WHO CREATES COLLECTIONS THAT HAVE THEIR OWN INDIVIDUAL TOUCHES OF EXPRESSION. FOR ME, OLIVER SPENCER ARE LEADERS IN HONEST SOURCING FOR THEIR MATERIALS, AND THEIR GARMENTS ARE MADE WITH THE UTMOST QUALITY"
Freddie Elborne, MONC Founder
"MONC AND OLIVER SPENCER SHARE THE VERY SAME ETHOS AROUND QUALITY, PROVENANCE AND SUSTAINABILITY. INSPIRATION BEHIND THE COLLECTION
The frames are named after three of Oli's favourite locations along the South Coast of England, each with their own associations with aviation. The collection also drew inspiration from the coastal geography of these areas, which impresses the importance of a wider appreciation of the natural world by the way in which they're designed, developed, manufactured and distributed. Materials are sourced and manufactured locally, and up-cycled materials are used where possible.
The combination of these elements brought together a series of frames that encapsulate our shared values. The frames feature unique touches from classic Aviator and D-Frame styles of old, originally adorned by RAF pilots of the 1940's and 50's. Each frame has been designed with the ambition to create a modern, yet timeless collection that does as little harm to the environment as we know how.
LIGHTWEIGHT, DURABLE AND
SOMETHING A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT
Each of these frames are made from carefully selected metal materials and components, all sourced as locally to our new workshop as possible. We've expanded our collection to explore the charm of metal eyewear. The delicate yet robust material lends an entirely new dynamic to the everyday look.
DISCERNING DESIGN
While collaborating with a menswear brand meant the frames were initially created with men in mind, each frame is designed to be suitable for both men and women alike. The dimensions of all three were consciously devised to suit faces of all shapes and sizes.
CONSIDERED CRAFTSMANSHIP
When finding manufacturers for anything we produce, it's important we consider their objectives. Sustainability can often be labelled as a luxury, but there are small steps that can be taken as a business to lower our impact on the environment, particularly at this initial - often hidden - stage.
Freddie first discovered the small wire frame factory we came to use in November 2019. The independent workshop is nestled into the side of a mountain in the Dolomites, situated a mere 25km away from our acetate workshop overlooking the Austria-Italy border. Production started in September 2020 and over several months of making, each frame passed through a series of the most experienced hands to create our limited edition, beautifully crafted first collaboration with Oliver Spencer that we are incredibly proud to have been a part of.
