This week we’re featuring ‘Daydreaming in Japan’, the first in a series of colouring books and travel adventures by German artist Denise Rashidi, also known as Surudenise.

The book features 24 detailed illustrations of various places all over Japan that give the viewer a feeling of warmth and dreamlike nostalgia, even if they have no personal connection to the place she depicts.

Surudenise spent most of her youth drawing, playing video games and watching anime. She went on to art school to pursue a professional career in her passion.

It wasn’t until her first trip to Japan that she discovered a love for architectural design and nature, which inspired her to translate these travel experiences into her own signature “Neon Pastel” style.
