MONC READS: The Frayed Atlantic Edge
As we enter our second lockdown in the UK, we’re taking some time to ourselves to read the award winning novel The Frayed Atlantic Edge by historian David Gange.
The book details David’s journey over the course of a year, kayaking the weathered Atlantic coastlines from Shetland to Cornwall.
He travelled slowly and close to the water, so he could be in touch with both the natural world and the coastal communities. He spent as much time in the boat as he did learning and gathering stories in each place along the way.
David also made a series of blogs, maps and photographs along the way which supplement the book, intended to keep the reader immersed in the land, waters and wildlife of the Atlantic coastline of Britain and Ireland.
