Miga Restaurant, Hackney
In 1980’s Korea, a government ban on imported animal bones threatened the food industry. While many restaurants diluted their dishes, Grandmother to Miga founder’s both named Jae Ko, chose to close down 2 of her 4 locations to maintain quality and authenticity. With this unwavering commitment to craft and home-style flavours that have been passed down for generations, it’s safe to say that we’re intrigued to try the modern take on traditional Korean cuisine at Miga, which recently opened in Hackney.
A touching tribute to the late artist, who was motivated by a desire to depict ‘the people around me,’ seamlessly blending community, memory, and imagination in his work. A believer of democratising art, Davis co-founded The Underground Museum in 2012, giving free access to world-class art for the people of Arlington Heights, LA.
3D printed wood. It sounds too good to be true, but designers Esmée Willemsen, Janek Beau, Friedrich Gerlach and Julia Huhnholz have been experimenting EconitWood - an innovative new material. Made by Additive Tectonics, EconitWood combines leftover wood chips and sawdust from sawmills and timber harvesting with a non-toxic binder and flame-retardant magnesium carbonate binder.
Mickalene Thomas: All About Love at the Southbank Centre
